Happy New Year 2020!
A new year is here and I've started to prepare myself for things coming up. The year starts out good with a gig at Nefertiti in Gothenburg with Bernt Rosengren Q & Christina von Bülow. Check out our new CD "Live" that has recieved fantastic reviews!! Other gigs in january includes Frank Vignola Guitar Nights in Bern (Switzerland) and Ulf Wakenius Q at Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen (Denmark) and more ...
Sweet Jazz Trio released the 15th (!) album in late autumn. Unfortunately this will be the last one as Lasse Törnqvist decided to end the group due to health reasons. Sweet Jazz Trio has existed since 1992 and have made a tremendous success in Japan = one of the most successful jazzgroups from Europe. But the group will have a following as guitarist Mats Larsson and me will continue as "Sweet Jazz Duo" with a guest solist. This last autumn the legendary trumpter Jan Allan has been the guest and will be so for the first SJD gig in 2020 (Gripsholms Slott in Mariefred the 19th of january). More to come ... Another new release that I'm really proud of is "Straight Ahead" (Inner Ear) with my friend, the extraordinary Norwegian drummer Roger Johansen together with great pianist Magne Arensen and me. Check it out!! We hope for a lot of opportunities to play as a trio (+ w guests) in the future.
